Guest Speaker
Her Excellency Pastor Dolapo Osinbajo
Wife of the Vice President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria

Her Excellency Dolapo Osinbajo is married to the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

She is a lawyer, and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1990.

She has been involved in many charitable causes over the years. She is the Executive Director of The Women’s Helping Hands Initiative (TWHHI) a non-profit organization incorporated in July 2010 - though the work had begun many years before.

TWHHI does the following:

  • runs two shelters for women and children in Lagos. The shelters specifically cater for battered women and children, victims of domestic abuse and sexual abuse. The first shelter is on Lagos Mainland with 150-bed capacity and the second shelter is on Lagos Island with 100-bed capacity. Each shelter includes a small clinic with a 24-hour nursing care. Each shelter also has a small Skills Acquisition room where the residents are trained if required to enable them survive financially when they leave the shelter. Counselling, legal representation, medical attention and other relevant services are provided to best support the victims resident at the shelter.

  • involved in Advocacy programs which seek to educate people on the importance of keeping themselves safe from harm. The Advocacy campaigns move from place to place wherever listening ears can be found. Primary and Secondary schools, and markets have been the main targets. The most notable among our campaigns are the PRECIOUS campaign which call for the safety of women and the girl child, and KNOCK-KNOCK campaign which advocates for the safety of young children.

  • runs THE CONCERNED MOTHERS group. This is a voluntary group of women who are like social workers. These ladies are available to be called upon in various locations nationwide to assist when there is a case of abuse or neglect. Within the network, they have access to other volunteers and resources needed for an intervention to save the situations. Capacity building training is held periodically on various topics to educate the ladies to enable them upgrade their services.

  • runs the PROJECT AYODELE, a program set up to honour the memory of late Ayodele Soyode, Mrs. Osinbajo’s mother. This program undertakes the training of women, (and sometimes men) in skills that can easily be transformed into cash. Project Ayodele is a mobile training program and it has moved from one location to another within Nigeria. The courses are short and practical. Many students start earning an income immediately after the course. Counselling sessions, basic medical tests, food and sometimes a stipend for transportation is provided for the students during the training. Project Ayodele started in June 2011.

Mrs. Osinbajo started the STEP UP training program in February 2009. This program trains women and men with skills required to start up a small business. Duration of courses range from between one week to four weeks. It is also mobile and moves from one place to another.

Mrs. Osinbajo is the co-founder of The Orderly Society Trust (OST) an initiative she founded in 2007 with her husband, His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN. OST seeks to assist in overcoming the challenges of creating an orderly society by promoting initiatives which support the:
