Every human is known to wait every moment of his or her life. We wait on queue in restaurant to be seated, registers to be checked out, doctor’s office for consultation, traffic junctions for green light, the list is endless. We wait practically for everything in life. The time duration of every wait differs though – some momentary, some longer, some within our sight, some beyond our sight. When waiting is beyond our sight then we need God’s help to truly wait and actualize the dream or expectation.
Romans 8:24 (KJV) tells us: “For we are saved by hope; but hope that is seen is not hope: For what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?”
I believe God allows some situations of our lives, to make us glue to Him, for Him to enjoy our fellowship, to gain our attention. That could be each one of us has “a thorn in the flesh” like Apostle Paul expressed in 2 Corinthians 12:7 KJV: “And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.” God allows a thorn in the flesh, but provides the grace we need while we wait on Him. Apostle Paul continued: “’Each time he said, “My Grace is all you need, my power works best in weakness.’ So I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT) God’s grace is all we need; remember we do not know the duration of the wait.
When we are insufficient God’s power is at work, our strength is renewed day by day – see Isaiah 40:31 (NLT): “But those who trust in the Lord will find strength. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” God want us to soar high. He’s constantly calling on us to come up higher and higher. When we do, we delight in the waiting. How sweet the presence of the Lord is.
Teach us to wait on you Lord. Psalms 24:14 (NLT) says, “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
May the Lord supply the grace needed as we wait for His divine move in our everyday life, and also as we wait for his appearing in Jesus name. Amen.
