Why must we give thanks and praise to our God?

My dearly beloved sisters in Christ,

This year will be your year of overflow in the name of Jesus! In spite of the ups and downs the year will bring, you will always have reasons to be thankful and Praise God.

Why must we give thanks and praise to our God?

Psalm 100:1-4 says,  “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”

Many times we often forget to meaningfully praise and worship God for his favor and blessings.

There was a Pastor that was trying to sell his horse. A potential buyer came to meet the Pastor for a test ride on the horse.

“Before you start” the Pastor said, “you should know that this horse only responds to Church talk.  Go is praise the Lord and Stop is amen.”

So the man on the horse says,  “Praise the Lord” and the horse starts to trot. The man again says,  “praise the lord, and the horse starts to gallop.

Suddenly there is a cliff right in front of the horse and the man yells “Amen!!!” and the horse stops just at the edge of the cliff. The man in relief wipes the sweat from his brow and says, “Praise the Lord!”

We often know what to say, but the words “praise the Lord” has lost its meaning!

We need to praise God for the following reasons:

1. God is worthy. “I will call upon the Lord who is worthy of to be praised”-Psalm 18:3

2. We are called to Praise and worship God. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”- Psalm 150:6
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”- 1 Peter 2:9

3. Worship changes us.  If you worship superficial things, your life becomes   superficial. If you worship the true God you become godly.  “And as the spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.”- 2 Corinthians 3:18

4. Praise and worship ushers in the presence of God. “But thou art holy, O thou inhabits the praises of Israel.”- Psalm 22:3

5. Praise defeats the enemy. It puts evil to flight “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”-Psalm 8:2

How can we praise God more effectively?

We should praise God with our whole being; our voices, our body and emotions, our voices, with music and finally with our life. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”- 1 Corinthians 10:31

Beloved sisters in Christ, Praises will overflow from our lips and we will reap the benefits with overflow in all other areas of our lives in Jesus name!  Let us never forget that ALL WE DO must be for God’s glory. God’s Blessings unto you!

In Christ,

Pastor Dr. (Mrs.) Manita Fadele
